This modern type of dentistry is practiced by few dentists and was developed to make dentistry a more pleasant experience..Minimal invasive dentistry originated from the need to provide dental care at a lower cost to patients who have limited funds and does not want to be limited to what the government facilities can offer.Today minimal invasive dentistry has been developed to such an extent that it can be applied to everyone!!
Minimal invasive dentistry is mainly possible because of the major advances in modern dental materials.In the past, dental resin materials were far inferior to what is available today.Mainly because modern resins or so called composites are extremely hard,resistant to discolorations and abrasion. What makes modern composites more acceptable today is like,in the past,these materials was the cause of sensitivity and discomfort due to the shrinkage of these materials after a filling was placed.This is no longer an issue due to less shrinkage after the curing process.
Minimal invasive dentistry is possible because these materials can be directly bonded onto the enamel of the tooth and can be shaped to any form.This allows the dentist to perform certain procedures that was not possible in the past.
